This one has a story.
I painted this many, many years ago. Back when buying a large canvas was a big deal. I wanted to get super detailed and make every single sardine stand out in all their tiny detail glory.
Life happened.
I did one corner of the painting in all the detail I could and stopped. For years I looked at this painting and thought someday I will finish you. Then something shifted, I liked the look of all of the sardines, the shapes and the colors made me happy. I didn't need to do more, I didn't need to try harder. They were done.
